HISTORICAL

L'Idylle arts vivants' activities are expanding following the appointment of a co-artistic director composed of Alex Côté and Mathieu-Philippe Perras, and thanks to the involvement of a diverse board of directors. In the summer of 2019, L'Idylle arts vivants organized a start-up residency involving seven Canadian artists within the Portuguese artistic community. Mural projects, public performances, concerts, installations and video creations are thus co-produced for a month with a Canadian and Portuguese artistic team, as well as a host of local partners.

The collective has also produced numerous video creations, such as the LGBTQ+ web series “Ça prend un Village” produced by RÉZO and the Public Health Agency of Canada, as well as productions for the Conseil des écoles publiques de l'est de l'Ontario, Rogers, the FAR Festival, the Centre de recherche en art clownesque, the Théâtre Renard and many others.

In 2022, with its WATER.sync project, L'Idylle arts vivants received the Création dans les arrondissements de Montréal grant from the Conseil des arts de Montréal, in order to carry out two riverbank cleanups, a group exhibition of twelve artists, a multidisciplinary performance in the hall and around thirty introductory environmental art workshops intended for young people in the borough.

Its 2023-2024 programming began with the tour of the collective exhibition and the WATER.sync performance in the network of Maisons de la culture de Montréal with CAM en tournée. In the summer of 2023, the organization produced the first edition of its INTERSECTION biennial, an artistic residency program in Portugal supported by the CAM's La Route vers l'Art program and by the Ministère de la culture et des communications du Québec. The team also signed the production of a permanent exhibition at Place-du-Village in Pointes-aux-Trembles that documents some fifteen initiatives promoting the socio-ecological transition of eastern Montreal. This artistic, environmental and cultural project was awarded the "Culture and Transition" grant by the Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal and the "Prix de la Relève" at the Prix Vivats in the fall of 2024.

For its tenth anniversary, the organization is getting a makeover by refining its logo and name for IDYLLE, in an effort to include a diversity of projects ranging from visual arts to film productions. In the summer of 2025, the organization is holding the final edition of its INTERSECTION biennial, an intercultural residency for 11 Montreal artists in Águeda, Portugal, supported by the CAM, the CALQ, LOJIQ and the Ministère de la culture et des communications du Québec.
